Michael Burke has been a photographer since 1969, while a sophomore at Lake Forest College. Michael was fortunate to major in Art History and studied with the brilliant and scholarly Alex Mitchell, Franz Schultz, Michael Croydon, and Rafael Fernandez, and Bailey Donnelley of the Department of Physics. Michael received an Honors in Art History in 1973. Michael received his master's degree in photography from the Institute of Design in 1977, where he studied with the unforgettable Arthur Siegel.

Michael photographs the usual suspects: people, places and things. His specialty is the high-end portrait, made with the elegant lighting and composition. Michael considers thefigure to be the ultimate portrait. Michael is an especially accomplished printer, both in the darkroom, and now with the computer.

Mr. Burke also is known for his table-top photography, samples of which are on this web site.

The studio, located in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood is a warm and friendly environment, where everyone is made to feel happy. Truth.
